Asics’ GEL-Lyte III has been making the rounds since its anniversary celebration in 2020. This week, Italian boutique Sivasdescalzo is set to deliver their take on the classic silhouette, rebuilding it from the ground up in a new eco-friendly design.
Still fresh off of its 30-year-anniversary in 2020, the Asics GEL-Lyte III has been the focus of an unprecedented run of releases from the Japanese running brand, reworking the GLIII in dozens of colorways, both new and old as well as limited-edition collaborations and standard in-line colorways. The latest entry in this string of heat from Asics comes in the form of a collaboration with Sivasdescalzo, an Italian boutique curating a number of high-profile brands and a heavy presence in the sneaker world. The project focuses on sneaker design from an eco-friendly perspective, rebuilding the GEL-Lyte III from the ground up to highlight its natural waste materials, which come in a palette of earth tones including grey, off-white, noir, and olive greens. SVD’s logos can be seen on the heels of each shoe, while the special box’s “Rewind Waste; Rewind the Planet” messaging gives the SVD x Asics GEL-Lyte III “Rewind” its name.

Asics’ latest limited-edition release of the GEL-Lyte III, designed by Sivasdescalzo with an eco-friendly construction in mind, have been scheduled to release later this week, on June 26th, 2021. The nature-inspired color scheme will be available exclusively from the Italian retailer via raffle, which ends later this week on June 25th. UPDATE 7/8/21: Asics’ sportstyle division has announced that the SVD x Asics GEL-Lyte III will release again later this week, on July 10th, 2021. The eco-friendly release will be available from select retailers with the same price tag of $150.
