This year marks the inaugural inclusion of skateboarding as a sport in the Summer Olympic Games. To celebrate, Nike SB has unveiled the new Sandy ZoomX Bruin, a modernized version of the classic Bruin ahead of the start of the games.
Nike SB is the brain child of Sandy Bodecker, a Nike SVP who believed that skateboarding could be an Olympic sport and the riders should be considered world class athletes. This year, as both of those predictions come to fruition, Nike is celebrating Sandy’s with the new Nike SB Sandy ZoomX Bruin, a brand new silhouette designed to honor the life and legacy of S.B. through its incredible use of Nike technologies, and launching as a part of the first-ever Summer Olympic Games skateboarding events. The design of the Sandy ZoomX Bruin closely follows that of a standard SB Bruin, featuring a near one-piece upper, broken up with overlays along the toe, lacing system, and heels. The upper is constructed from a unique new Flyknit pattern akin to scales, while the midsole is comprised of Nike’s ZoomX cushioning and a carbon fiber plate. An oversized Swoosh is visible through the transparent foxing, while the phrase “Engineered to the exact specifications of world class skateboarders.” across the tongues completes the look.
