Nike SB debuted a new model this Summer, the PS8. Leaning heavily on technical innovation, the model debuted as part of the Swoosh’s Olympic package. Now, new colors are starting to surface, including an “Obsidian” blue style.
Nike SB’s PS8 is a wild step in skate shoe innovation, combining performance elements from Nike’s basketball and running departments and applying them to skateboarding. The model starts with a Flyknit upper reinforced with leather in high-wear areas, and uses the carbon fiber FlyPlate in the sole for more flexibility. This is surrounded by a new high-abrasion rubber tech, which allows for less rubber used, making the shoe more lightweight.
Nike SB has slowly been rolling out more colors of the PS8 since the model’s debut this Summer, refreshing the shoe with a variety of simple color schemes. This week, we have an early look at a new “Obsidian” pair, which combines two shades of dark blue across its upper. These are paired with a Phantom silver Swoosh to complete the look.

Nike SB’s new colorway of their PS8 skate shoe has not been given a set release date yet, but is expected to arrive sometime later in 2024. Featuring a a melancholy blue colorway with Obsidian and Squadron shades, pairs will be available from Nike and SB skate shop accounts for $120.
