The WNBA’s All-Star Weekend is going down this week, and Nike is celebrating the occasion with a special player-exclusive sneaker for their sponsored athletes. Shared in a teaser by Vanessa Bryant, the Kobe 6 gets a hot pink makeover for the annual festivities.
All eyes are on the WNBA this year. The women’s professional basketball league is gaining more and more popularity, thanks to discussions around the pay disparities between the NBA and WNBA. Additionally, the league has some incredible young talents like rookies Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink, and Angel Reese, all of whom are converging on Phoenix this weekend for the All-Star Game. To celebrate this weekend’s festivities, Nike has cooked up a special pair of the Kobe 6 as a player-exclusive sneaker for their signed athletes.
Vanessa Bryant, the wife of the late Kobe Bryant, has taken the reigns of her husband’s iconic sneaker line with Nike. She has become one of the main sources for early looks at upcoming and special-edition releases, and this week, she teased the WNBA’s “All-Star” PE for 2024. This pair will likely not be available to the public, but casts the shoe almost entirely in a hot pink color scheme paired with some green accents.
