Nike has released a ton of special Quickstrike drops over the years, but it’s been a while since we’ve seen a proper one. This week, a new pair of the Dunk Low QS has been teased, but unfortunately for us it will be a Tokyo exclusive.
Nike’s Quickstrike release system is the stuff of sneaker legends. While the exact date or shoe that kicked off the program is unknown, early in the 2000s the Quickstrike name became synonymous with the Swoosh’s marketing strategy. The plan is quite simple: make a special pair of sneakers in very limited quantities, often celebrating a specific event or city. Then, release them at said event or city without any prior notice. This strategy is what created so much hype around Nike releases in the 2000s, and its coming back soon.
This week, atmos creative director Hirofumi Kojima teased an early look at an updated pair of the Dunk Low QS “Tokyo”. Pictured alongside its predecessor from 2004, the new pair features luxurious materials for a very worthy update. The original is the all-canvas pair on the left, and the pair on the right, sporting ostrich leather, faux fur, and canvas, is this year’s update. The new look sports a very similar color scheme, in shades of white with a gum sole, and is expected to release soon, though the exact date will likely not be announced.
