Nike has been quietly celebrating twenty-five years of the Air Max Plus this year, releasing a handful of fresh colorways to honor the iconic runner. Using the model’s iconic gradient pattern, a new pair is set to release this fall in a mix of “Wild Mango” and “Persian Violet”.
The Nike Air Max Plus Tuned 1 was originally released in 1998, through a partnership with Footlocker that saw the running shoe drop exclusively through the retailer’s stores. Since then, the Tuned has become an essential part of the Air Max lore, as the first shoe to feature the at-the-time brand new Tuned technology underfoot. Since celebrating its 25th birthday last year, the shoe has seen a number of fun new releases, with more on the way like the “Swarovski” pairs coming this holiday season.
This week, another new style has been added to Nike’s Fall release slate, pitting the model’s iconic gradient look in a new mix of colors. The base layer begins with a Wild Mango yellow shade at the toes, which fades into a hot pink shade for the midfoot, and finally, Persian Violet purple at the heels. The sole’s plastic support piece uses the same three colors to form a gradient, while the rest of the shoe is framed in Pure Platinum white.
