This year, Nike is releasing a new collection of some themed classics, dubbed the “Doodles” collection. Each pair features classic notebook scribbles printed on the insoles, and smooth color schemes. With two Air Force pairs already locked in, this week the Air Max 1 has joined the fun with a navy blue and burgundy color scheme.
Nike has been using their classic silhouettes to create special-edition collections over the last few years, with the Air Force 1, Dunk Low, and Air Max 1 making up most of these special releases. The projects do not go as far as some limited-edition collaborations, but will often swap out materials for interesting new choices, and use unique color schemes that are uncommon on other in-line styles. The latest collection in this style is the “Doodle” series, a handful of sneakers that all feature printed insoles with graphics taken straight from your middle school notebook. With two Air Force colors already in the series, the Air Max 1 has joined the lineup this week.
Nike’s take on the Air Max 1 from the Doodles collection is a welcome addition to the project. This release makes some noticeable material changes to the iconic runner, mainly swapping out the mesh base for a canvas textile instead. The Armory Navy mudguards come in a similar canvas with notable grains, while Swooshes come in a soft chenille-like textile in burgundy red. The rest of the shoe is cast in coconut milk white. NIKE AIR MAX 1 “DOODLES” RELEASE INFORMATION
Nike’s latest special-edition pair of the Air Max 1 has not been announced for release yet but is expected to arrive sometime later in 2024. The “Doodles” pair featuring graphic insoles and a dark blue & burgundy color scheme will be available from both Nike and select retailers, with a price tag of $150.
