Nike’s “One Line” Air Footscape Woven Nods to Their First China-Made Shoes

Over the past few years, Nike has celebrated their first series of sneakers made in China with the Nai-Ke line. This week, a new pair of the Air Footscape Woven joins the project under the “One Line” banner.

In the 1970s, Nike was still in its infancy. Towards the end of the decade, Nike received a tariff bill from the US government for their goods sold, which Phil Knight figured out he could lower if Nike were to produce knock offs of their own shoes overseas. Enter The One Line, a limited edition series of sneakers from Nike that are their only footwear ever to not feature a Swoosh or the brand’s name. This year, they are paying homage to the One Line with a special pair of the Air Footscape Woven in a colorful build. The shoe’s suede pieces of the upper come in light bone, with the woven sections in dark grey with some hints of orange, blue, and green mixed in. Grey midsoles and burgundy outsoles complete the special-edition look.
