The Nike Phoenix Waffle has been a very low-key part of the brand’s arsenal since releasing last year. Now, Fragment Design is set to release their take on the simple runner later in 2024.
The Nike Waffle Runner was the brand’s first model back in 1972, when they transitioned from the Blue Ribbon Sports label to the now-iconic Swoosh and name. The Waffle technology has evolved a number of timed over the last 50+ years, and is regularly adapted into new styles, like the recent Phoenix Waffle. The model incorporates a new waffle pattern for the outsole, thick midsoles for extra cushioning, and a throwback shape for the Swoosh branding. This week, Fragment Design founder and longtime Nike collaborator Hiroshi Fujiwara has teased a special FRGMT edition of the shoe, coloring the model in white mesh, off-white suede, and bright blue accents to complete the look. This tease comes after early looks at a black AF1 from Fragment as well as a Zoom Spiridon, meaning we could see a slew of FRGMT releases later this year.

The upcoming Nike Phoenix Waffle from Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment Design has not been announced for release, but is expected to arrive sometime later in 2024. The clean white, grey, and bright blue style will likely be available from both Nike and select retailers with a slightly elevated price tag of $120.
