Southern California brand Basketcase has teased their next project with New Balance, showing off the F&F edition of the 204L and simultaneously confirming a second pair will release to the public later this year.
New balance has a brand new silhouette on the way this year, the 204L. The model is a combination of classic NB stylings, using a heavily layered and intricate upper, and pairing it with a new, super slim sole unit that has become popular in fashion circles over the last year. The shoe’s upper uses a construction with many similarities to the 1906R, another recent hit, and is set to debut soon. New Balance has tapped a range of collaborators to help debut the new look, including Kith, and now, Southern California’s Basketcase.
Basketcase is an up-and-coming brand out of Southern California, who first teamed up with New Balance last year. Their debut release was a pair of the 1906AD in early Summer, before following up with the MT10 in the winter. This week, the gallery is in Paris for Fashion Week, and is showcasing their take on the new 204L at their showroom. Seen here in a flat grey colorway, the look is a Friends & Family exclusive, though they stated that another colorway for the public will release later this year. Their version mixes faux pony hair and suede across the upper, with simple white and black trim to complete the look.

The latest project from SoCal brand Basketcase and New Balance has not been officially announced yet, but they shared that the new collab will arrive sometime in 2025. The pair that will release to the public is NOT the grey pair seen here, that is a Friends & Family edition currently on display in their Paris Fashion Week showroom.
