Asics’ classic GEL-Lyte III runner saw a lot of love from the brand in 2020 for its 30th anniversary. Lucky for us, that hot streak continues into 2021, as evidenced by the new “Lichen Green” colorway iteration of the vintage runner, available now.
2020 was the thirtieth-anniversary of Asics’ GEL-Lyte III running shoe, a revolutionary design backed by decades of Japanese sports research and craftsmanship. The brand celebrated via a rehashing of the original GEL-Lyte III, adjusting the shape and fit of the modern-day version to better reflect the OG pairs from 1990. Now fully settled into the swing of releases for the refined iteration of the GLIII, Asics has plenty of new color schemes to show off throughout the new year, like the “Lichen Green” version that landed on the brand’s website earlier this week. The new look begins with an olive green base layer constructed from mesh while matching green suede makes up the various overlays. The signature Asics branding comes in black patent leather on either side, highlighted by golden accents.
