adidas’ ZX franchise from the 80s has made a return by popular demand in recent years, reissuing classics as well as introducing new, modernized silhouettes to the mix. This week, the Consortium division unveiled a rebuild of the ZX 8000 in a faded look.
The adidas ZX line is back in full force. With the current widespread availability of the ZX4000 4D, as well as several retro releases of original silhouettes, the sneaker community is definitely diving headfirst back into the vintage 80s runners. However, some are still anxiously awaiting what is commonly thought of as the best ZX release of all time, the ZX8000 in its “Aqua” launch color scheme. Its been a few years since we last saw the legendary sneaker, (five, but who’s counting) and we’re ready for another release. Luckily, adidas Consortium is here to answer the call, bringing with them a new twist on the classic. Originally released in 1988, the ZX8000 launched in a bright color scheme consisting of mainly aqua tones with purple and yellow accents. For the latest release, those colors have been toned down slightly to give the shoes the appearance of being heavily worn with the colors fading.
