BAPE’s New Shark Sta Tech Runner Releases This Week

BAPE is paying homage to their iconic Shark hoodie this season, and to help celebrate, they are dropping their latest signature sneaker, the Shark Sta. Inspired by tech runners, the new model arrives this week.

A Bathing Ape has been producing their own sneakers since the early 2000s, when they first released the Bapesta. Based heavily on other influential sneakers of the era, mainly Nike Dunks and Air Forces, their lineup has expanded dramatically in recent years to include all different styles of footwear. This week, they’ve unveiled their next new model; the Shark Sta.

The Shark Sta will be the first tech runner from Bape, a kind of runner inspired shoe with materials and patterns that are tech-forward. The model is inspired by their iconic Shark hoodies, and features the prominent mouth detailing bridging the gap between the upper and midsole. The upper is constructed from a mesh base with a healthy dose of leather overlays, allowing for plenty of color blocking opportunities. The new midsole unit features plenty of molded lines, reminiscent of retro runners from the likes of Nike and New Balance.
