New Balance’s Made in England 991 Surfaces With Metallic Silver Overlays

New Balance’s 991 silhouette has been popping up in plenty of new colorways this year, in celebration of the silhouette’s 20th anniversary. Today, we are taking a closer look at a new Made in England pair, clad in metallic silver panelling.

The New Balance 991 turns twenty years old in 2021, a celebratory occasion for the Boston brand and the entire 990X family of footwear. Originally introduced in 2001 as the evolutionary next step for the beloved suite of running shoes, the 991 quickly became a default choice for runners around the world, as well as New Balance itself. Now, the 991 is heralded as a piece of sneaker history, still produced and worn today as one of the most stylish lifestyle models on the market. Celebrating the shoe’s anniversary this year, New Balance has been pumping out exciting releases of the 991, mostly produced by the brand’s Flimby, England facility. Today, we have a look at a new “Silver Metallic”-clad pair, which just launched overseas this weekend. The new look begins with a gunmetal grey mesh base layer, adding suede overlays in cream, black, and navy. Next, the 991’s heel, toe, and midfoot overlays come in a shimmering silver leather, while hints of red accents complete the new look.
