Nike Kobe 4 Protro
The Nike Kobe 4 is Kobe Bryant’s fourth signature shoe under the Oregon sneaker giant, first debuting in 2008. While many of Bryant’s original models hold major significance to this day, the Kobe 4 was particularly notable for its embrace of a low-cut design. It marked a major divergence from the high tops of the time, a choice informed by Kobe’s love for soccer and belief that the reduced height would dovetail into increased on-court agility and range of motion.
More than a decade after the shoe left the shelves, Nike announced the Protro program, revitalizing some of the most beloved Mamba models for the modern consumer. The “Draft Day” edition paid off that promise for the model at hand in 2019, and after the initiative paused following Bryant’s tragic passing, the “Mambacita” continued its legacy with a sentimental Gigi Bryant-inspired colorway. In 2024,”Girl Dad,” “Philly” and “Gold Medal” colorways further stamped the silhouette’s impact on the modern sneaker culture.
For 2025, the Kobe 4 “Team Gold” is the only release currently set in stone, reported for a Fall release window. However, with each of the colorways marking instant sell-outs in 2024, additional looks surfacing as the year draws on would be far from a surprise.
