As 2023’s end inches closer, more pairs from Nike, Inc.’s expansive “Chinese New Year/Lunar New Year/Year of the Dragon” collection continue to surface. The latest sees the iconic Air Jordan 1 Low outfitted in an event-appropriate color scheme and packaged with a red envelope.

For years, the Oregon-based conglomerate has celebrated Far East Asia, releasing special products that commemorate local cultures and figures. With the imminent change in the Zodiacal calendar, the Swoosh has covered several of its most popular styles in arrangements inspired by the occasion. The newly-surfaced Air Jordan for women sees a “Dark Team Red/Sail/Metallic Gold Grain” trio take center stage. The pair isn’t too far off from the Air Jordan 1‘s original “Chicago” look, but ornate profile swooshes and logos on the sockliners denote the latest take’s special quality.

Underfoot, Peter Moore’s tried-and-proven sole unit also indulges in a non-standard finish, although to a much more familiar degree. Semi-translucent “Dark Smoke Grey” outsoles complement the upper well, which enjoys a deep shade of red. The included red envelope (壓歲錢) offers a brighter shade of ruby, donning a golden Jumpman emblem that matches the accessory housed inside. The color red is meant to bring about good fortune and ward off evil spirits, according to Chinese tradition.

Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead. A nike.com launch is expected for January 24th, 2024. The women’s Jordan 1 Low “Chinese New Year” is priced at $125 USD.
