LaMelo Ball’s PUMA MB.05 Debuts On August 29th

Melo's next chapter might be his wildest to date.

LaMelo Ball’s PUMA MB.05 Debuts On August 29th

Updated August 4th, 2025: PUMA has officially announced LaMelo Ball’s MB.05, set to debut on August 28th. Arriving in an inaugural pink “World Tour” colorway, the shoe borrows iridescent barbed wire molding from LaMelo’s tattoos, a further reinforcement of Ball’s heavy involvement in the design process. Other key details like a skull within the outsole and the crossed straps remain in place from when we first caught a glimpse at this shoe.

The PUMA MB.05 “World Tour” hits PUMA.com, their in-store locations, Foot Locker, Champs, and other associated retail partners on August 28th. Retail pricing is set at $125 for adult pairs.

Perhaps down the road, Tyrese Haliburton can earnestly challenge for the belt, but for the moment, LaMelo Ball is at the center of the PUMA universe. While comfortably the face of PUMA Hoops for some time already, his footprint has only grown larger within the greater catalog, tacking on his own slides, the PUMA LaFrance lifestyle model, and the trail-inspired LaFrance RNR in the past year and change. However, for LaMelo’s dedicated fanbase and us as the sneaker media, his signature line will always remain the biggest headline, making a detailed reveal of the PUMA MB.05 a serious event.

While we’ve come to expect dense, psychedelic geometry on any LaMelo Ball shoes, it doesn’t feel like a stretch to say this is the most radical edition yet. Crossing curvilinear straps across the tongue stand as the key hardware feature, but wavy synthetics at the toe give way to a sequined quarter panel, stretching its disco ball arrangement onto the toe.

Barbed wire overlays creep onto that layout towards the rear, where a gridded heel cup hosts the requisite dose of MELO and “1 of 1” branding. Flip to the heel for some additional reinforcement of these off-kilter motifs. Though in the broadest possible strokes, the MB.05 holds onto multi-directional traction, a dedicated “1” sits at the center of that pattern, flanked by more barbed wire and a mirrored skull directly under the heel.

As we’ve seen with several of his recent signatures, our earnest “first look” came extremely early on, as a cadre of potential colorways of the PUMA MB.05 began circulating in December 2024. Flowing from that bit of news, further imagery of this “World Tour” edition lends credence to the pairs depicted there, as that group included the “Sun Struck/Pure Magenta” pair at hand.

The PUMA MB.05 in this “World Tour” colorway is due out on August 29th in adult and grade school sizing, releasing alongside a range of apparel options. As of this writing, retail pricing is unclear, but expect something in the same general price tier as the models that preceded it, ranging from $120 to $135.
