While the New Balance 2002R has now been woven into the fabric of the brand’s readily-accessible inline offerings, New Balance’s tendency to go off script from time to time means we can’t ever rule out splashier moments with the silhouette. The retro of the New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” is proof in and of itself, harkening back to the model’s prime and reintroducing a once dominant style.
The tan/beige formulation at hand isn’t as headline-worthy, it’s still a jump ahead of schedule all the same, executing an autumnal look even as we reach the hottest portion of the calendar. Though lighter and darker portions alternate as you work through the shoe, it’s only shades away from a totally monochromatic edition, wearing earthy hues all throughout. It sets up a very easily digestible overall look, with perhaps the only unexpected note coming via a branding hit, as the “N” logo on the quarter wears shaggy suede to break up an otherwise one-note profile.
As with most other general release New Balance product, this 2002R in tan and beige doesn’t come with a concrete release date. In lieu of one, be ready for a drop on NewBalance.com in the coming weeks, checking in at the typical $145 retail price.
