The New Balance 1500 was arguably the most sought-after New Balance model in the 2000s and early 2010s, with the premium Made In England silo checking off memorable collaborations with names like Provider, Solebox, and colette to name a few. While the 1500 might not be as hyped as it once was, Steven Smith’s design is still a fixture at the brand’s Flimby factory and a darling among NB diehards. Following monotone “Birch” and “Black Cat” colorways, images of a new brown leather/mesh pair have hit the ‘net.
Delivering some sweet “Maple Syrup” vibes, the design begins with premium brown/red-ish leather overlays. The leather underlays, mesh base, and matte tongue/collar areas opt for a more traditional brown shade, while cream-colored branding introduces some welcome contrast. The shoe’s ENCAP midsole brings more cream hits into the fold, while a brown gum outsole rounds out the delivery underfoot.
The New Balance 1500 “Maple Syrup” is available now via END. Clothing, meaning a larger global release is right around the corner. Budget for a $240 retail price if you’re considering copping.
