The fact that the adidas Fear of God Athletics Basketball I wasn’t exactly fit for the hardwood isn’t a secret — it’s something that Jerry Lorenzo himself readily acknowledged in the lead-up to its sequel. That second model has answered the critics, and if you’re still a non-believer, take Gabe Vincent’s word for it. The Los Angeles Laker almost exclusively laced up the Fear of God Athletics Basketball II in his NBA action for 2024-25. It’s only right that he gets some of the splashy shine off-the-court as well; Vincent was the choice to unveil one of the shoe’s next colorways, a shimmering “Lemonade.”
Eschewing the neutral tones of previous colorways, this shoe makes heavy use of the titular “Lemonade,” pasted atop the synthetic upper and through the chunky sole unit underfoot. To be sure, it’s still a low-contrast shade to ensure aesthetic cohesion with the FoG design language we’ve become accustomed to, and a dose of light grey mesh peering through the abstract Three Stripes guarantees the same cohesion. A blacked-out heel tab completes the tricolor lean of this edition, overall delivering a perfect off-speed pitch for the warmer months.
To date, each release of the Athletics Basketball II has come with a paired Mid and Hi, all but confirming that this summery make-up should eventually surface on its taller counterpart. Along with the on-foot shot featured here, Gabe Vincent also included a spec sheet for this shoe, indicating a Spring/Summer release window that should pay off shortly. We’ll keep you updated when a concrete date surfaces via this article and our Sneaker Release Dates page.
