Though he didn’t take the same step onto the diamond that his mentor Michael Jordan did, Kobe Bryant is nonetheless entering the world of baseball with the release of the Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Dodgers.” Initially expected for a Mamba Day release to follow an early March drop exclusive to LA’s Undefeated, in truth the Nike Kobe 6 “Dodgers” will get its wide release via SNKRS on May 30th, something tipped off and preceded by the official image treatment.

As a consequence of this extended roll-out period and a two month layoff between its first public launch and it earnest one, there aren’t many surprises with the blue and white style now that these shots have surfaced. If you’ve been following this shoe’s life cycle the whole way through, note that the public version of the Nike Kobe 6 “Dodgers” comes with a blue TPU heel clip rather than the contrast white counterpart on the one given to the literal LA squad.

In the time since it first hit the ‘net, the colorway’s “Great American Game” inspirations have spread outside of footwear. Earnest performance gear and some baseball-inspired apparel came alongside that regional exclusive, now looming as a potential accompaniment for this retro shoe. The concept was first introduced with monochromatic pieces inspired by the Kobe 6 “All-Star 2.0.”
