In 2018, Jordan Brand launched the Air Jordan 3 “Seoul”, a limited-edition release that coincided with the 30th Anniversary of the Air Jordan 3 and the 1988 Olympics Games in Seoul. Since then, the South Korean cultural boom has exploded year over year on a global scale, compelling the Jumpman to revisit this project and run it back. Here, you’ll learn everything you need to know about the Air Jordan 3 “Seoul 2.0”.
Since 2018, we’ve seen South Korea make a strong imprint in across all cultural categories. In entertainment, Bong Joon Ho and Yuh-Jung Youn became the first Koreans in history to win the Best Director and a Best Actor award, respectively. BLACKPINK became the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella. Tourists are flocking to Seoul and other major cities, Korean TV such as Squid Games have captivated the world, and the world of fashion and sneaker retail has zeroed in on Seoul as the “it” city to open up shop.
Compared to the first release, the Seoul 2.0 Jordans are a bit more intricate. It starts off with an aged aesthetic via the yellowed leather and midsole, while the fabric on the ankle is a nod to traditional Korean blankets. Behind the tongue are the words 꿈 (Ggeum) which translates to “dream”, and 정 (Jeong), which is a tougher translation but roughly defines “loyalty”. The shoes come packaged in a special box that features a cloudy blue sky graphic on the lid and elephant print embossed on the container. Considering the amount of detail that went into the shoe, the MSRP is surprisingly $200, which is currently the lowest standard pricing for an Air Jordan 3 Retro.

That said, the Air Jordan 3 “Seoul 2.0” will be a much broader affair. They won’t be super-limited like the first Seoul Jordans were; in fact several retailers across the globe are confirmed to launch the shoes (likely via raffle). In the US, Jordan Brand partnered with Korean-owned retailer Sesinko for an early exclusive launch at their Flushing, Queens location, a neighborhood that was and still is a haven for Korean immigrants.
