#bootsonlysummer is the latest footwear trend to take over our social media feeds, a wave that straddles the line between ironic and earnest. Though older readers may roll their eyes, it’s clearly something that both A-listers (Rosalia pulled out cleats in the lead-up to the Met Gala) and brands alike are taking note of, with adidas rolling out a convertible cleat model to better befit lifestyle use. However, their mainline offerings are plenty capable of embracing the suddenly trendy category without much modification, seen with the adidas Samba “Metallic Blue.”

The “Long Tongue” build may not be applied for this shimmering pair, but the rippling stitched sections at the toe remain from the shoe’s on-pitch origins. As for the aesthetics at play, the glossy finish on the sapphire leather foundation and additional silver flashes at the Three Stripes and heel cup hit on the flashier looks frequently seen in adidas’ performance catalog. If you’re in the #bootsonly camp for the click-clack of plastic hitting concrete, sadly you’ll be leaving disappointed with these, but if you’re looking for a more sensible embrace of the trend, look no further.
