For the first time in what seems like forever, the most notable skate shoe of the year isn’t a Nike SB Dunk (so far). Following months of anticipation, legendary skateboarder Andrew Reynolds finally has a signature New Balance Numeric model; the New Balance 933. The first batch of colorways has almost completely sold out, but as promised, New Balance is circling back with a “Grey Days” edition on May 26th.
Grey colorways work on pretty much every New Balance model, but especially those that are part of/take inspiration from the brand’s Made In USA line. The New Balance 933 is one such sneaker, equipped with suede layering and small “N” logos reminiscent of – you guessed it – the New Balance 993. Dark grey suede gives way to navy mesh on the toe box, tongue, and collar, while textured grey leather appears around the quarter of both sides. Reflective treatments land on the “N” logos and NB Numeric backtab, complemented by Reynolds text on the tongue tag and insoles.

On the performance side of things, the New Balance 933 features ABZORB cushioning, durable Ndurance rubber underfoot, and a unique herringbone traction pattern. In addition to having all required skate hardware, Reynolds’ wants his skate shoes to be wearable and more lowkey. At 46 years old, the man behind Baker Skateboards is more interested in form and function over flash.
The New Balance 933 “Grey Days” ($130) is scheduled to release via newbalance.com on May 26th, but word on the street is that some skate shops are already stocking pairs. See official images below and visit our Sneaker Release Dates page to browse other upcoming skate shoes.
