Never is NBA star’s collegiate pride on display more than once the calendar flips to March. That certainly goes for the rest of the country as well as the proverbial Madness takes hold, but year-in, year-out pro hoopers look back to their various alma maters, often in the realm of sneakers. With Devin Booker’s Kentucky tenure capturing a particular high-point in the school’s recent history (they haven’t reached the Final Four since he left Lexington), it’s a particular good omen that the Book 1 “Blue Blood” is beginning to emerge as the tourney looms.

After the school shared his Book 1 “Kentucky” PE, Devin himself promised a denim ode to the school coming to retail, something that the shoe at hand finally pays off. Atop a faux-vintage aged sole, the Suns SG blends between true collegiate style in the color choices with a more fashion-minded material choice. The allusions to the Wildcats are particularly undeniable down the throat of the shoe, both with the trademark blue hues coating the liner and laces as well as a throwback Cats logo on the tongue tag. Note too the exposed foam tongue, a first on the model.

The Nike Book 1 “Blue Blood” is listed on retailer calendars for an April 10th launch. Retail pricing will become firm as that date nears closer, but expect the typical $140 price tag for the time being.
