Nike’s backlog is simply so expansive that most times, in order to meet the cyclical demands of fashion trends, all they need to do is peruse their own archives. As sportstyle continually rises to meet high fashion, it’s birthed an opportune moment for exactly that, a revival of the Nike Air Rift to slide alongside oddities like the New Balance loafer or PUMA Mary Jane series.
Truthfully, the Air Rift has been released in scattered fashion throughout this decade, but a spotlight in a recent SNKRS showcase illustrates how the Swoosh is redoubling their efforts behind the model. A quartet of “Suede Pack” looks is the latest endeavor for the late 90’s curio, all four delivering fully tonal profiles in “Ironstone,” “Red Sepia,” Parachute Beige,” and “Photon Dust.” The hollow center, ballet-like straps and chunky sole each go a long way in making this shoe fully on-trend for the current footwear moment, but don’t sleep on the tabi toe for a final nail in the coffin, a cult classic detail that already helped the silhouette carve out cult appeal in its original run.
Look for the Nike Air Rift “Suede Pack” to hit shelves and Nike channels this March, each commanding a $140 retail price. Catch official images of all four colorways and respective “Where To Buy” sections ahead, the latter stocked with direct pick-up links upon release.
