adidas Originals has officially announced A-TYPE, a collection of iconic pieces of the archive reimagined with unprecedented levels of craftsmanship, luxury, and attention to detail.
First off, the adidas Superstar. The icon of icons in the Originals catalog, the shell-toed sneaker is getting a significant push by the brand to start off 2025 not only on the everyday essential level, but also in this ultra premium tier with unprecedented execution. The adidas A-TYPE Superstar, handmade in Italy, is a re-creation of the first-ever prototype of the Superstar and comes recrafted to the utmost of carefulness that lives up to the $850 price-tag. It features premium leather, debossed canvas, cashmere shoelaces with detachable lace tips, silver-plated lace jewelry, and a Lightstrike Pro midsole for cushioning. The shoes are packaged in a molded shoe-box with wooden shoe trees and white gloves as a nod to the German brand’s meticulous archive.
The A-TYPE collection also includes select apparel and accessory pieces. Starting off is the iconic Firebird tracksuit; its three pieces–the track top, track pants, and track shorts–are built with the finest leathers, elevating the street fashion staple to new standards of luxury. The recrafted Airliner, a shoe-bag from the 1970s, returns in both Large and Small form, each built with leather constructinos, detachable belts, cotton lining, and premium hardware. Jewelry is also available via sterling silver pendant necklaces, earrings, and rings featuring the Trefoil emblem.
A firm release date for the adidas A-TYPE collection has not yet been announced; currently the items are limited to friends & family of the adidas program. Below is a lookbook gallery of the A-TYPE collection featuring DJ Hank Korsan, Pusha T, Tyshawn Jones, Selena Forrest, Fiffany Luu and Paloma Elsesser.
