Though the 23-year-old easily took home the highest fan vote in the East, not making it into the starters pool leaves his inclusion in the hands of the press and coaches. One thing that’s beyond a shadow of a doubt is the continuing success of the latest LaMelo Ball shoes, the PUMA MB.04, leaning into it and its namesake’s “Creativity” with an upcoming colorway.
Though mismatched colorways have been a staple of Ball’s line stretching far back, there’s no denying that the MB.04 has kicked the concept into high gear, even bringing into the collaborative realm with the LaMelo Ninja Turtles shoes releasing throughout February. The narrative for this shoe is less fantastical, reaching back to a PUMA Neymar cleat also carrying the same “Creativity Pack” and the neon lights palette worn on the right shoe. While young Melo has a ways to go before he’s classed with Neymar, it’s undeniable that he’s one of the most creative, “how did he think of that move” players in the league, perhaps making the comp more apt than aspirational.
