With the Jordan Spiz’ike Low powering forward with new colorways seemingly popping up every week, it’s only fitting that the Jumpman pays proper due to the OG that paved the way. Finally, the Black/Varsity Red/Classic Green version from 2006 is finally being ported over to the modern low-top interpretation.
A quick history on the Spiz’ike: the hybrid model launched way back in 2006, with many Jordan fans at the time dubbing it the “Retro Frankenstein”. Part MJ, part Spike Lee, the Spiz’ike mixed in elements of the Air Jordan 3, Jordan 4, Jordan 5, Jordan 6, and Jordan 9 — the five models worn by the fictional character Mars Blackmon.
The black version re-issued in very limited quantity in 2017 as Jordan Brand looked to re-inject some energy into the silhouette, not to say it didn’t already have a loyal fanbase. Now, that same mix of Pan-African colors lands on the Spiz’ike Low; it will be available soon on Nike.com for $160 so be sure to check out Jordan Release Dates page for availability info.
