“Gravel” Fittingly Inspires The ASICS GEL-NYC

The ASICS GEL-NYC entered in 2023 as a collaborative product, a new member of the Japanese brand’s family ideated in part by AWAKE’s Angelo Baque. While that additional jolt of streetwear appeal helped get the model off the ground, it now stands as a chunkier foil to the tech runner stylings of their GEL-Kayano 14 or GT-2160, helping broaden the scope for the ASICS renaissance we’re currently in the middle of. With the obvious geographical ties in its name and the additional ones in its origin story, it’s only right that “Gravel” lights the way for the latest ASICS GEL-NYC edition.

Unsurprisingly for those who have followed us or the silhouette, throwback hits of grey and metallic silver drape this edition, another natural nod to skyscraper-laden cityscapes. Icy notes of royal blue add a chilly atmosphere in the margins, while the exposed GEL units remaining clad in jet black keeps things in grounded territory. Though it may not mark the GR sell-outs the same way that a majority of mainline GEL-Kayano looks can, still the all-around comfort and stylable bonafides of the GEL-NYC make this (and its other looks) continue to stand out.

The ASICS GEL-NYC “Gravel” hits ASICS channels this Spring, retailing for the usual $130 MSRP.
