Nike wields its magic wand the best when it creates a piece of sports equipment that looks so good that it needs to be worn with casual clothes. After all, every popular lifestyle shoe on the market was at once a piece of athletic wear. The Pegasus Premium is poised to joined that exclusive group.
Debuting at the Nike’s On Air innovation summit in Paris last April, the Pegasus Premium instantly wowed the crowd with its simplicity. To its benefit, Nike kept the upper design rather pedestrian; nothing about it strikes as new. However, the full-length Zoom Air bag at the midsole is what had us excited for the first time in a while.
Nike opted for full-length visible Zoom Air on a running shoe on just one other occasion (the Zoom All Out Flyknit). The ergonomic shape of the unit on the Pegasus Premium is what makes it so much more attractive to the eye. Upon testing the shoe, the Pegasus Premium is a medium-distance runners dream. For commuters, you may never want to take these off.
On January 30th, the Swoosh will launch the Nike Pegasus Premium in the grey/orange colorway for $210 in both mens and womens sizes. More colorways will arrive later this Spring and into Summer, like this women’s exclusive “Atmosphere” colorway that features the Zoom Air in a metallic silver. Official images are just below.
