The final word on the adidas Yeezy partnership in 2024, with the brand unloading all of the stock leftover in the wake of their 2022 breakup, had us believing that the onslaught of Yeezy shoes news would largely wind down as we worked through the new year. However, Kanye West is quickly proving his wrong on his own two feet, continuing his independent empire that started with the accessible release of the Yeezy Pods.
Just hours before this article went live, he let the SL-01 Yeezy Slipper loose to the public, later reporting via his social media presence that the launch earned him over 3 million dollars in just its first day. Now, a third arm is being added to his burgeoning imprint — West again took to Instagram to tease the first bonafide Yeezy shoe, the BL-01 or as he dubs them, the “Bullys.” Though the construction is assuredly a step into the sneaker world once again and appears more hardy than the ultra-simplistic models that preceded it, minimalism remains the name of the game.
Sized up plush panels weave across a monochrome black profile, interrupted by curvilinear mesh cutouts at the quarter and toe-box. Notably, the slip-on nature of the Pod and SL-01 remain intact — this new Yeezy sneaker eschews a traditional lacing system all-together. Finally, in continuing the function-first bend of this fresh line, the simplified tread remains in place underfoot, with parallel rubber grooves all there is to speak of on the outsole.
It’s unclear when the Yeezy sneaker will release via West’s yzy-sply.com site, but retail pricing is likely less of a mystery. Each of the products he’s released under this imprint has carried a $20 MSRP, likely to remain the case once these become available.
