adidas’ re-launch of the Jabbar has flown a bit under-the-radar, but the 1980s has excelled by utilizing its OG construction, bringing back a Three Stripes design that helped shape not only their basketball vertical, but the landscape of signature shoes at large. However, as Footpatrol approached their own take on the retro model, they decided to go a different direction. Landing earlier this week, the Footpatrol adidas Jabbar Low steps off the court, sporting a premium blend of mixed materials.
True to that prompt, the all-leather construction of the Jabbar Low is heavily overhauled, with Footpatrol instead heavily utilizing suede across the upper, interrupted with more premium versions of that staid material on tumbled leather Three Stripes branding and a naturally toned leather liner. For a final flourish at the back, the brand spins a pony hair tab on the heel. Footpatrol’s lookbook images for this collaboration are centered around formal wear, and even without that extra reinforcement, it’s hard not to make that connection when looking at this shoe, managing to turn the DNA of an on-court icon into show-stealing dressy fare.
