The Nike Air Force 1 “Kobe” is officially set to arrive on December 6th, 2024; the white pair will be widely available on SNKRS and retailers, whereas the black version is limited to 8,000 individually numbered pairs. Read on below to learn everything you need to know.
Much of the layout from the white edition remains in place for its nocturnal peer; mismatched embroidery on the heel between From Kobe’s #8 and the tri-tip Mamba logo he’d adopt in later years. A double ply Swoosh splits between the Laker’s two primary tones, Bryant’s signature appears gilded on the tongue, and the pair arrives with two sets of laces that align with those vibrant shades. The main draw for the Kobe Air Force 1 “Black,” however, is the all-over embossed pattern, planting the Kobe logo comprehensively throughout the shoe. Add that to the aforementioned limited nature and you’ve got the perfect recipe for one of the most coveted shoes of this Holiday season.
The Kobe Nike Air Force 1 marks a revitalization of Bryant’s name outside of the bounds of his own signature line; though an uncommon occurrence in the modern era, it’s not entirely without precedent. Long-time collectors and hoops fans will surely remember Bryant’s pledge of support for Bruce Kilgore’s design during his “sneaker free agency” in the early aughts, a period between the lapse of his adidas contract and eventually inking a deal with the Swoosh.
Sporting the mid-cut on court prompted multiple tributes from Beaverton through the 2010s, including a 25th anniversary where his face was literally emblazoned onto the side, a paired “Black Mamba” pack in 2011, and additional tacit tributes, including a gradient and snakeskin laden lifestyle edition in 2024.
