Can you believe it’s been fifteen years since Coraline hit theaters? Arguably the best production to come from the Phil Knight-owned LAIKA Studios, the stop-motion film will is celebrating a decade-and-a-half in 2024, and Converse is joining the festivities with a capsule of Chucks made for the entire family.
Officially unveiled today is the full Converse Coraline collection; included in the five-pair set is Chuck Taylor All-Star in two styles, the Chuck Taylor All-Star EVA Lift, and the All-Star in 1V and 2V made just for kids. Back in 2009, Nike celebrated the premiere of the movie with a special Coraline Dunk High; today it is one of the more sought-after Dunk collectibles on the market.
Each pair is adorned by its unique graphic inspired by the characters and other ephemera of the movie. For example, one Chuck Taylor is inspired by Coraline’s friend Wybie and features a black-coated canvas upper and a button eye graphic. Another pair showcases the fantastical garden that an eyelet inspired by the Seeing Stone.
The complete Coraline Converse collection is set to release on November 21st directly from Converse.com. A tee and hoodie will also be available.
This is hardly the first time LAIKA has collaborated with a Nike, Inc. brand; in addition to the Coraline Dunks, we’ve also seen Paranorman Foamposites and Air Max 1 Missing Link drops in the past.
