With LeBron and Bronny James making history this year as the highest-scoring father-son duo as soon as they stepped on the court together, it’s indeed been a family affair for The King in 2024-25. As the LeBron 22 tips off its very first colorways, that atmosphere remains, with The Kid From Akron’s newest silhouette tipping off a “Family Game Night” collaboration. While we’ve already caught images of the two pairs in the collection, Nike is officially pulling back the curtain on the Monopoly LeBron 22 collab.
As mentioned, though we could confirm the shoe’s colorways before, concrete word from the Swoosh allows either pair to be understood better on a narrative level. The “Currency” edition speaks for itself, with the game’s various tender pasted atop an Art Deco-inspired foundation ripped from the game’s art style. Cut to the other half for a more abstract interpretation. Though the racecar, thimble, and the rest of the physical “Token” pieces are the jumping-off point, the shoe adopts a blue and gold layout that lets said floral print speak for itself throughout the upper.
Further than just the shoes, Nike announces a large-scale activation in celebration of Monopoly Day on November 19th. Middle schoolers at LeBron’s “I Promise School” will be treated to a life-sized, James-inspired version of Monopoly, with a particular focus on financial literacy playing out through gameplay. Finally, Nike promises that this likely won’t be the end of their relationship with Monopoly. The venerable Hasbro property is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2025, so Beaverton suggests watching their Nike Basketball channels for potential new products down the line.
The Monopoly x Nike LeBron 22 collection will drop staggered; the “Currency” colorway lands on November 15th, and the “Token” on November 19th. Either pair retails at $180. Below, you can catch another look at official images of each, with attached “Where To Buy” widgets containing direct pick-up links upon release.
Elsewhere in the world of basketball shoes, the retro of the Nike KD 4 “Christmas” brings back a defining 2010s colorway.
