Original “Charcoal” Settles On The Air Jordan 9 Golf

Original “Charcoal” Settles On The Air Jordan 9 Golf

After a dead silent 2023, Air Jordan 9 fans have been rewarded for their patience in 2024. Two original colorways in the “Dark Powder Blue” and “Olive” have and/or will release, thus opening speculation on the possibility of “Black/Varsity Red” and “Charcoal” retros. For now, we’re settling for Golf versions of those Chicago-esque OGs. The former hit shelves earlier this year, while the latter just emerged via official images.

Black leather, grey nubuck, and red lining/detailing come together for an aesthetic that oozes 1990s nostalgia, complete of course with radial spokes and grass-worthy tread underfoot. Notably, the Jordan 9 “Charcoal” has only retro’d once since its inception in 1994, arriving back in 2010.

There’s really no wonder as to why the Jordan 9 continues to get tapped as a golf shoe. To the uninitiated; the model arrived in 1993 when Mike traded in his hoops shoes for baseball spikes, therefore, non-basketball versions are more than sensible. Jordan also wore a cleat AJ9 during his minor league baseball stint, so Nike Inc. already had a blueprint in place for producing spiked versions of shoe (granted the AJ9 cleat looks way different than the AJ9 Golf).

Jordan Brand hasn’t set a firm release date yet, but the Jordan 9 Golf “Charcoal” is expected to arrive Spring 2025 for $230. See official images below and tap our Jordan Release Dates page to preview other upcoming Jumpman deliveries.
