Teddy Santis’ latest premium collection as creative director of Made In USA marches on in metronome-like fashion. After welcoming the New Balance 993 back to the shelves with a high-heat endeavor, the rarely-seen New Balance 997 is itself back in the spotlight.
Ceding space to models in the 990 series over the past few years, the silhouette that once had the runners scene in a chokehold in the 2010s began trickling back with general releases after a Paris-centric collection in July. With an Aime Leon Dore collaboration also teased in that span, this marks the first elevated release for the 997, beginning that endeavor with a luxe combination of brown, olive, and burgundy through the shoe upper.
Of course, the “Vintage Teal” that lends these their name nonetheless has a significant impact, running through premium suede overlays to contrast the earthier blend it rests atop. All told the eccentric combination of colors here perfectly matches the equally off-kilter material composition, continuing the mashup energy with TPU siding, a mesh toe-box, and a canvas foot entrance.
As mentioned above, the New Balance 997 MADE in USA “Vintage Teal” will be released on November 19th via New Balance channels.
