Taking aim at the “gorpcore” niche and a growing market for slip-on footwear all the same, Nike has resurrected 2001’s ACG Rufus for the modern day. With three colorways released in 2024 thus far, it now appears Beaverton designers are getting a bit more experimental when it comes to the all-weather shoe’s material composition, ditching smooth fabric for hairy suede on this newly surfaced “Burgundy Crush” colorway.
The official color palette also makes mention of black and “Summit White” treatments, but the entire design essentially comes coated in the titular “Burgundy Crush” hue, comprising a fall-friendly aesthetic through the dark seasonal color. In addition to the new fabric up top, the mini Swoosh appears to be stitched into the base, not debossed as seen across preceding pairs. Naturally, as a Nike ACG shoe, the Rufus meets strict weatherproofing standards and presents as a suitable option for all conditions. It hasn’t invaded mainstream consciousness yet, but has certainly caught the eye of “gorpcore” aficionados amidst growing favorability towards utilitarian, outdoor-minded footwear.
Look for this “Burgundy Crush” colorway to drop via Nike SNKRS during the Fall 2024 shopping season for $110. Enjoy official images below and tap our Sneaker Release Dates page to preview more upcoming pairs.
