New Balance and UK retailer Footpatrol have one of the most secure sneaker brand-retailer relationships you’ll find, having worked on myriad silhouettes since writing the first chapter of their collaborative catalog back in the mid 2000s. Their latest joint effort comes on one of the Boston brand’s hottest models in the New Balance 1906R, with X-ray images and human anatomy referenced as the primary design theme.
Taken after the outputs of radiographs used in the medical field, the shoes feature a liberal use of teal blue via its mesh base and TPU heel counter. White accents embed themselves within clear tech-runner overlays just above, balanced out by a black tongue, sock liner, and laces, while red ABZORB cushioning capsules add variety underfoot. Moreover, the insoles features X-ray images of the foot, delivering a more obvious tie-in to the overarching design theme.
The Footpatrol x New Balance 1906R releases May 31st exclusively via Footpatrol channels both online and in-store. It’s already been received warmly in first looks/leaks posted on social media up until this point, earning praise for its focused theme and unique communication of trending Y2K tech-runner aesthetics.
