Reebok Unveils Their Next Great Training Shoe, The FloatZig 1

Reebok kicked off their 2024 in throwback fashion, bringing back the Reebok Preseason 94 for the first time, appointing Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson to prominent roles in creative direction, and for good measure, releasing the Reebok Question again for All-Star weekend. As we near the spring, it’s time to look to the future. Their newest official announcement gives us a look at their next signature model, the Reebok FloatZig 1.

Somewhat of a mashup model, Reebok’s newest runner builds its foundation by heavily referencing other product lines. First, they utilize the already-existing infrastructure of the Zig running line, borrowing both their moniker and the jagged, wavy midsole design. Then comes the “Float,” its title coming from Floatride Energy foam, Reebok’s counterpart to adidas’ Ultraboost and Nike’s various running technologies.

Materially, the FloatZig 1 is a combination of mesh uppers, foam panels in the tongue and collar and the aforementioned Floatride midsole. From a design perspective, it’s fair to say that layered and segmented design principles are at play. The midfoot panels, utilized in “Laser Pink” and “Cyber Mint” colorways to include vibrant pop, run through the entire shoe, barely peeking through the enmeshed forefoot.

Particularly in those two editions, the middle of the sneakers is a divergence from otherwise conservative palettes, while the “Grey/Orange” showcase a different take, with consistent hues running through the entirety there.

While the FloatZig 1 is ostensibly the signature shoe for this line of running hardware, Reebok has already announced that it’ll spread further. The FloatZig Symmetros, pictured below, provides an update to an established inline runner, perhaps hinting towards similar makeovers for other familiar footwear.

The three debut colorways of the Reebok FloatZig 1 as well the FloatZig Symmetros will launch on April 4th for $130 and $150, respectively. You can expect them to drop via Reebok.com, Amazon and at certain local retailers. Finally, though this deserves plenty of notice as the first push for it, the Boston brand has teased further iterations on both the sneakers in question and the FloatZig line as the year draws on.
