The following article was published on February 14th, 2024:
The transition from Air Jordan 2 to Air Jordan 3 has a lot more significance than you think. After signing with Nike in 1984, Michael Jordan’s signature shoe line was off to a rocky start, with Michael largely unhappy with the overall result of the Air Jordan 2. According to legend, MJ had considered parting ways with Nike, until Tinker Hatfield stepped in as the chief designer of his shoes and revealed the Air Jordan 3. MJ loved the shoes, he stayed, and the rest is history.
This upcoming sole-swapped hybrid that combines the 1987 and 1988 model shows that those two silhouettes are a lot more fluid from one to another, because the Air Jordan 3’s outsole, complete with visible Air Max at the heel, fits perfectly with the italian boot-inspired design of the Air Jordan 2. These newly revealed images depicts just how promising swapping the soles of two Air Jordans can be.
First revealed on the foot of Jordan VP Gentry Humphrey, the Jordan 2/3 is currently expected to drop this Summer 2024 in at least two colorways — one of which being this White/Black/Sail version below. Firm drop dates haven’t been disclosed just yet, but they’ll be available for $160. For now, check out our Jordan Release Dates page to see the latest developments in the Jumpman calendar.
