Nike Debuts A “Wimbledon” Version Of John McEnroe’s Signature Shoe

The return of the Nike Mac Attack has been a somewhat unexpected yet welcomed development, as collaborative efforts with Travis Scott and Social Status help reintroduce the signature John McEnroe silhouette to a new generation. On top of modern-day treatments, the silhouette has also begun to wear a variety of inline colorways that serve to channel the model’s rich heritage.

The latest rendition of the Mac Attack sports a green and purple color scheme, mirroring the renowned Wimbledon logo and echoing the exact hues John McEnroe donned during his victorious 1984 Wimbledon Championship run. This choice of colors narrates an important story of tennis and sneaker culture, underscored by the presence of a pair worn by McEnroe himself in the Wimbledon museum.

Adhering to the strict Wimbledon dress code, the forthcoming model boasts a white base, crafted from leather and mesh. The design is accented with purple on the Nike Swoosh and a vibrant green on the outsole and suede heel panel, adding Wimbledon flare.

With the Wimbledon Championships scheduled for July, enthusiasts may have to patiently await the release of these sneakers. In the meantime, enjoy official images below and check out our detailed breakdown on the modern revival of the Mac Attack.
