The Next Made In USA Collection Gives The New Balance 996 A “Pink Haze” Makeover

The Next Made In USA Collection Gives The New Balance 996 A “Pink Haze” Makeover

Teddy Santis has been at the helm of New Balance‘s Made in USA since early April 2021. Over the last two years, the program has revamped a handful of the brand’s most iconic silhouettes, which will soon include an NB 996 “Pink Haze.”

Debuted in 1988, the New Balance 996 played an important role in the original NB 990’s evolution, but has been largely overshadowed by other successors of the first $100 USD running sneaker. The streamlined exterior design of the 35-year-old model features a mix of mesh, suede, and leather. Santis and team update the hairiest material of the bunch with a cool “Pink Haze” that falls in line with other pastel-covered offerings from the last seven months. “N” logos on the sides deviate in a brand-appropriate grey that also lands around the heel. Elsewhere, supporting accents and performance components underfoot indulge in a yellowed arrangement that injects a vintage aesthetic into the pair. Rugged traction solutions underfoot keep things simple in “Black.”

Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, and anticipate a newbalance.com launch on Thursday, July 27th. The pair is priced at $190 USD.
