Charles Barkley may constantly be the butt of countless jokes relating to his lack of NBA rings, but the Hall of Famer boasts an iconic signature sneaker line.
Recently, the Nike Air Max CB 94 emerged via official photos in its original “Black,” “White,” and “Varsity Purple” color scheme. The pair appears to be a one-to-one replica of the silhouette’s debut style from almost 30 years ago, although the shoe arrives with a new SKU (FQ8233-001 instead of CZ7871-001 like 2021’s reissue).
Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Max-cushioned sneaker has been emblematic of Nike Basketball’s golden age for decades. Built tall and robust, but lightweight, the shoe has lasted the test of time like few other performance hoops shoes from the era have. The majority of the upper takes on a “Black” and “White” arrangement, while breathable mesh tongues and details around the Air bubble favor a purple finish. The inner bootie follows suit, adding some Phoenix Suns flavor to the shoe. All together, Sir Charles’ iconic Nike shoe is back like it deserves to be.
Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, as you wait for the retro to hit nike.com by the end of the year.
