Jared Ebanks While The Swooshes’ famed yet fictional Air Max Day is returned the Air Max 1’s original big bubble, the Beaverton brand is additionally preparing the iconic Tinker Hatfield design in a myriad of honorary styles. Recently, a previously revealed offering unveiled its connection to The Swooshes’ CO.JP Tournament.
Launched in the early 2000s as a part of the brand’s worldwide advancement efforts, the Concept Japan banner has been refreshing classic Nike styles through a reimagined lens for decades. Recently announcing the winner of its 2021 CO.JP Tournament that pinned the project’s best propositions against one another, the aforementioned celebratory Air Max 1 combines elements from the Top Eight winning styles with a reptilian twist.
Drawing its lively “Varsity Maize/Midnight Navy” color blocking from the famed Michigan lineage, the premium-infused proposition then borrows the faux crocodile leather of the 2006 “Un-Tiffany” Dunk Low for its bright yellow overlays while the Swooshes snakeskin texture is adapted from the 2005 Air Force 1 Low “Snakeskin Cocoa”.
In contrast to the dominant yellow treatment, the buttery leather base, nylon tongue construction and embroidered forefoot check receive an injection of the dark blue tone. Accompanied by a neutral cream sole unit, the vibrant two-toned ensemble concludes with the caution yellow hues encompassing the leather sock liner and tread underfoot.
