Jared Ebanks Since 2009 Nike has paid a yearly tribute to the culture and traditions of both Native American and Indigenous communities through their N7 collection. While Kyrie Irving formerly helmed the homage with his previous signature series, yesteryear saw the construction of all-new silhouettes join the celebration for the first time since Tinker Hatfield proposed the Air Zoom Down Rock and Zoom Heritage in 2019.
Following the silhouette’s transition to a mule last summer, the Nike Free Crater Trail now coordinating a weather-resistant boot-like tooling. Proffering an innovative, first-of-its-kind lacing system, rounded yellow laces wrap across the faded “Cargo Khaki” hued body before being fed through the matching secondary tongue overlay which finishes with a circular lace clinch. Concocting an amalgamation of premium textures through the dominant real estate value attributed to the nubuck leather upper, a “Habanero Red” fleece sock liner and rubberized “Olive Flak” midfoot caging and mudguard further explore the pair’s nature-inspired tonal palette. Rendered in a seldom yet repeating fashion through securing loops, lace tips and the heel counter, a disparate sampling of pink concludes the upper’s embellishments while underfoot the brand’s mid-2010 staple Nike Free cushioning system indulges in a slightly brightened “Light Orewood Brown” conclusion.
