Youth sports aren’t what they used to be. They’ve grown more and more competitive, fast-paced, and serious than ever before, and now the equipment kids use is finally beginning to catch up. Usually, kids shoes are simply smaller versions of adult shoes that are lighter, easier to take on and off, and feature less technology. However, that’s no longer acceptable for the hyper-advanced world of youth athletics in 2018. Kids need a product that can keep up with their rapid progress, not simply a shrunk-down version of adult shoes.
Nike understands this, so they’ve designed two kids-specific sneakers—one for basketball and one for running—the Future Speed and the Future Flight. Both are tailored to the young athlete with a broader forefoot (kids do need growing room after all), less glue and lighter mesh material to ensure that they stay light and nimble. The outsole of both shoes is inspired by a puppy’s paw that features a soft surface surrounded by firmer components for cushioning, traction, and stability. Both shoes are easy to get on and off, and enable the young wearer to develop foot strength that will help them in the future. Look for both of these high-performance sneakers to release July 1st on Nike.com, with more Future Series releases to follow in the coming months.
