Pharrell was prepared to fulfill his duty as torchbearer in the Olympic torch relay on July 26, preceding the Opening Ceremony which will commence the 2024 Paris Olympics. For the special occasion, the Louis Vuitton men’s creative director paired the official torch relay uniform with a new pair of Adizero sneakers from Adidas, debuting the shoe as part of his ongoing relationship with the brand.

Pharrell was in attendance for the relay held at Saint-Denis Cathedral Basilica, located outside Paris. Alongside French actress Laetitia Casta, the musician and fashion designer grasped the futuristic-looking torch before a large crowd. The torch bearers all wore variations of the same outfit, including a long sleeve white athletic shirt reading “Relais de la Flamme Olympique Paris 2024” on the front, accompanied by the image of a flame and the Olympic rings logo. The shirt also featured a subtle pattern reading Paris 2024 in looping font.

While Casta and other torchbearers wore matching white pants, Pharrell opted for a pair of off-white above-the-knee shorts. He coordinated with the accents in his shirt by wearing orange-tinted sunglasses.

After displaying a pair of custom Adidas earlier this week in Paris, the “Happy” singer continued to show off his passion for Adidas sneakers with another pair form the German brand. He debuted the Adidas x Pharrell Williams Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 shoes, continuing his partnership with the famous brand.

Known as the Earth colorway, the white lace-up shoes featured thick stripes on the sides in hues of turquoise, purple and black, each block of color separated by negative space. While most of the shoe was white, an abstractly shaped splash of black was visible on the toe of the sneaker. He paired the shoes with white crew socks featuring black lettering.

The new Evo 1 is described as “the lightest racing shoe ever created by Adidas,” weighting 138 grams.

Pharrell has an existing partnership with Adidas, having released his Humanrace Samba shoes in several colorways earlier this year. The enduring Samba sneaker has been around for more than 70 years, and was named Shoe of the Year at the FNAAs in 2023.
