Jill Biden wore her favorite pair of espadrilles alongside husband President Joe Biden touching down at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C. on the afternoon of July 1. The two made a stop in North Carolina for a presidential rally on June 28 following the June 27 debate, and this marked the president and first lady’s first time back in Washington, D.C. since.
Previously spotted wearing the exact same shoe for another trip back in 2021. The silhouette featured a black canvas toe box, a tan slingback strap atop a 3-inch jute wedge heel and a black ribbon around the ankle. This time, she paired her shoes with a flowy light blue dress and aviator sunglasses. Her husband Joe sported a dark navy two-piece suit with a white dress shirt and a black pair of aviator glasses, matching his wife.

While espadrilles are Jill Biden’s preferred choice, particularly when she is traveling, she is sometimes known for switching back and forth between sneakers and pumps.
For the debate between President Joe Biden and Republican candidate Donald Trump that took place on June 27 in Atlanta, the first lady initially wore a pair of blue suede pumps that featured a sharp angular toe box and a stiletto heel ranging between 3 to 4 inches. Later, she changed into a comfortable pair of lace-up sneakers from the brand On Running, which included a blue and white colorway and a logo emblazoned on the tongue of the sneakers.
That same week, she attended a rally accompanying her husband President Joe Biden in Raleigh, N.C., in a dark blue pair of suede pumps which featured sharp triangular toes, textural suede uppers and arched soles that sat on top of a stiletto heel ranging between 3 to 4 inches.
The first lady is also known for her love affair with boots. For the 2024 White House Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn in Washington, D.C., she was spotted in a pair of knee-high brown suede boots that were adorned with a rounded-toe silhouette, an estimated 2-inch block heel and exposed stitching detail. Additionally, the first lady’s knee-high boots were crafted from a soft slouchy suede textile.
